FilmCraft on macOS

Install FilmCraft on macOS

FilmCraft ships a universal macOS build and a command-line tool. macOS is the platform the maintainers test most, so it is the safest place to try it.

What is supported

  • Universal app (Apple silicon and Intel) and a universal CLI.
  • Hardware decode on macOS.
  • The most tested platform for FilmCraft.

Steps

  1. 01Download the macOS build

Use the download buttons on this site or the latest release on GitHub and pick the macOS universal build.

  2. 02Verify the checksum

Compare your download with the SHA256SUMS.txt file in the same release.

    shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/filmcraft-download.dmg
  3. 03Install

Open the disk image and drag FilmCraft to Applications.

  4. 04First launch

If Gatekeeper blocks it, Control-click the app and choose Open, then confirm. This is a one-time step.

Troubleshooting

"Cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified"
Control-click the app and choose Open, or allow it under System Settings > Privacy & Security. Only do this for downloads from the official repository.
Do I need Rosetta?
No. The build is universal and runs natively on both Apple silicon and Intel Macs.
